At Timeline Maps, we believe your location history is part of your personal story, not a product. We designed our platform based on the principle of Privacy by Design.
Technical data only. The file exported from Google contains geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude), timestamps, and the detected mode of transport. It does not contain passwords, emails, contacts, or personal messages. It is a list of points on the map, unrelated to your personal identity.
No. Registration is flexible. You can use a pseudonym or alias, and we only require an email address to manage your access. Providing your first and last name is entirely optional.
Never. This is our strictest policy: your photos never leave your computer. The platform has no image upload capability to the cloud, so your private files remain exactly where they are.
We use local processing technology in the browser. When you select your photo folder, the system reads the image metadata (EXIF) directly from your local RAM to position them on the route. The Timeline Maps server never sees, touches, or stores your photos.
That’s right. All the “heavy lifting” of reading your photos’ coordinates is done by your browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc.). It’s a fleeting process: when you close the tab, that connection to your local photos disappears completely.
Once our intelligent engine optimizes the data for fast loading (reducing file size by up to 95%), the excess is discarded. We only keep the pathpoints necessary for you to view your story smoothly.
Yes. You have complete control. You can delete all your information from our database at any time with a single click. “Your story is yours,” and if you decide to leave, we don’t keep any copies.
